Before you start writing 'The World on Six Logins a Day', I'd recommend reading either 'Molvania' (first and best) or 'Phaic Tan' (by the same writers, and more relevant to your journey). Neither is the sort of book one would want to read for more than 30 minutes at a time, but they are excellent parodies of the tourist guide genre.
